Senior Human Resources Generalist

Job SummaryThe Senior Human Resources Generalist partners with their respective functional business leaders to implement key HR processes and programs and support business initiatives. This role is responsible for providing HR leadership in the areas of labor and employee relations, compliance, diversity, performance management, HR analysis, talent development and management, career development, talent acquisition and retention, and employee engagement.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Primary responsibilities include implementing company-wide HR strategy to support business initiatives and growth and providing day-to-day associate relations guidance and support to functional leaders and associates within VWR.
+ Responsible for facilitating training, providing first level Workday support, implementing associate engagement and wellness initiatives and addressing general HR questions for assigned groups/facilities on various HR topics and questions.
+ Provides guidance and counsel regarding associate retention and participates in local initiatives related to retention and engagement
+ Understands business strategy, identifies recruiting needs, develops and executes recruiting strategies to hire and retrain top talent to meet business? needs
+ Leads workforce planning initiatives and participate in recruitment events, including college recruiting. Ensures on-site leadership teams are trained in recruiting and interviewing procedures and that on-boarding is consistent and meaningful.
+ Communicates and implements various HR initiatives throughout the year ranging from benefits open enrollment, to performance management, and talent review processes. Works with leaders on talent management processes such as goal setting, providing appropriate feedback during performance appraisals, and assists in creating individual development plans in support of a performance driven culture.
+ Counsels and advises managers for assigned functional areas on HR issues.
+ Conducts associate relation investigations and facilitates effective communications and collaborative problem-solving strategies to prevent or resolve associate relations issues.
+ Participates in functional staff meetings and provides HR insights on business issues when necessary.
+ Assists in projects and/or participates as a project team member on company-wide HR initiatives.
+ Assists in implementing VWR HR policies and procedures as well as monitoring the effectiveness of these programs.
+ Assists assigned functional teams with the understanding of these programs.
+ Implementation and administration of positive and effective system-wide labor relations program which promotes the long and short-term labor relations strategies under general direction of the HR Business Partner and Director of Labor Relations.
+ Administers and interprets the collective bargaining agreement, monitors the disciplinary process, assists with grievance and/or arbitration procedures.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Requires 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
+ Requires minimum of 5+ years of Human Resources experience. Strong HR Generalist experience required.
+ Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
+ Experience in managing of collective bargaining agreements and delivering management training programs preferred.
+ Contract interpretation and application along with knowledge of NLRA is preferred.
+ Experience supporting functional Operations such as Customer Service, Transportation, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and/or Distribution preferred.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
+ Must have a proven track record of relationship building with both internal and external customers.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Ability to handle associate conflicts and differences by interpreting verbal/ non-verbal behavior, detecting perceptions and needs of associates, understanding and valuing associate differences.
+ Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to understand business strategy and goals.
+ Requires working knowledge of MS Office and HRIS systems.
+ Ability to work independently and with a team.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
